Position

 Nathan Roberts practises in employment, discrimination, public and other related practice areas, including human rights and education. He has acted in all domestic appellate courts and in the European Court of Human Rights.

Career

Nathan’s recent cases include:

Ferguson v United Kingdom (ongoing) – an ongoing case in the European Court of Human Rights, in which Nathan represents the applicants whose right to same-sex marriage in Bermuda has been repealed.

Hassan v BBC [2023] EAT 48 – representing the BBC in successfully resisting an appeal to the Employment Appeal Tribunal on how claims should be identified.

Zabelin v SPI Spirits (UK) Ltd [2022] – a successful employment tribunal whistleblowing claim, in which the a Chief Investment Officer was awarded over £1.6 million in damages.

Harpur Trust v Brazel [2022] UKSC 21 – a Supreme Court judgment on the application of the pro rata temporis principle to part-time workers’ annual leave.

R (FDJ) v Secretary of State for Justice [2021] EWHC 1746 (Admin) – a judicial review concerning the location of transgender prisoners on the women’s prison estate.
