Karen is a Principal Associate within the Planning and Infrastructure Consenting Team. Karen works across all aspects of the planning and consenting regimes with focus on renewable energy and residential development. Karen's has recently promoted a Transport and Works Act Order for a tidal demonstration zone off Anglesey. She has also continued to advise a windfarm developer in respect of their appeal against an enforcement notice including their subsequent challenge against the Reporter' decision. Her broader renewable energy practice includes advice on the implementation of consent for onshore wind projects, and planning due diligence for acquisition and disposal of renewable energy portfolios. Karen's broader practice includes the provision of strategic advice in relation to the delivery of major transport, housing, mixed use development schemes and the settlement of associated complex legal agreements for both developers and the public sector. Karen is advising a local authority in relation to acquisition of land for new railway stations and for the delivery of dedicated rapid bus routes to enhance public transport solutions. She is also instructed by national housebuilder clients in connection with a range of their projects across the Midlands, and also works alongside Paul Maile advising a developer in respect of the comprehensive development of a former RAF airfield. She is also advising in relation to an application for a significant mixed use regeneration scheme in Birmingham City Centre. Karen's strong local government practice includes settlement of complex planning agreements for the delivery of a 6000 unit zero carbon sustainable urban extension. Karen's expertise in relation to retirement living has included advising on the acquisition of sites with planning potential for senior living schemes and the securing of implementable planning permissions for this use.
