Position

Commercial Property, Planning and Licensing lawyer with a background in dealing with all aspects of commercial property including purchase, sale, securities, investment, leasing and development. David now heads up the planning and licensing team within the commercial property department. He advises on all aspects of the planning process, from applications and objections to appeals and judicial review, negotiating planning agreements and planning conditions, interpreting policies and the local development plan process, as well as representation at inquiries. He has significant experience in both the property development and the renewable industry, and has advised on planning and property matters in relation to several significant wind farm applications. He has also been involved in applications for landfill sites, flood alleviation schemes, small scale hydro, and solar projects. His licensing work involves advising on all aspects of liquor licensing, and guiding clients through the licensing process. David speaks regularly on property and planning law at industry events, and delivers the renewable energy element of the Diploma in Legal Practice at Aberdeen University. Clients include local authorities, housebuilders, commercial developers, landowners and third sector organisations.
