Avinash Mody is the Founder & Managing Partner / Head of Practice of Tatva Legal New Delhi.

Specific to Corporate M&A practice, in addition to a wide experience in advising on corporate and commercial laws, Avinash has extensive experience in formulating entry strategies, complex acquisitions and joint ventures, both domestic and cross border, buyout of joint venture partners, and restructurings.  With his experience he is able to offer considered and strategized negotiations, measured risk assessment and risk mitigation strategies.  Astute documentation skill-sets have helped him handle complex assignments and transactions.

An illustrative list of key assignments historically handled by Avinash is below:

(i)  He has acted for Toyota Tsusho Corporation on multiple strategic investments, and also acted for the Sumitomo Group and Nippon Steel on multiple investments in the auto-components sphere;

(ii)  He acted for MetLife in acquisition by PNB of a 30% stake in MetLife India (now PNB MetLife), a multi- party life insurance joint venture, which transaction required legal assistance in the bid stage, restructuring of the existing joint venture arrangements, and procuring of approvals from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, the Reserve Bank of India and the Competition Commission of India for achieving transaction close;

(iii)  For Dorf Ketal group, he has acted on multiple acquisitions, both onshore and offshore, in the chemical industry space

(iv)  He acted for PNB in divestment of its stake in its housing finance company, which transaction entailed legal advisory during the pre-bid and bidding stage, procurement of approvals, and transaction closure.
