Position

Harris Toengkagie is a Partner at Makarim & Taira S. whose expertise is built on almost two decades of representing and advising national and multinational corporations in litigation and dispute resolution, employment matters, real estate, competition, and corporate compliance.

In litigation, Harris has represented national and international companies in facing commercially related lawsuits, complex civil litigation cases, state administrative disputes, and the enforcement of foreign arbitral awards through Indonesian courts. He provides valuable assistance to clients before, during, and after the investigation process. This includes providing support during questioning by government institutions, such as the police, immigration, and the public prosecution service. His litigation approach goes beyond winning cases in court; he focuses on negotiating and developing effective strategies to achieve timely and mutually beneficial settlements aligned with his clients’ business goals. Extending his expertise to real estate, Harris has successfully dealt with challenging land acquisition matters related to major power plant and property developments.

Harris also has extensive experience across the full spectrum of employment advisory, possessing detailed knowledge of intricate and reputationally sensitive employment and remuneration matters across numerous sectors. His work routinely involves assisting clients with both executive and mass recruitments and terminations, grievances and disciplinary matters, corporate governance, as well as immigration issues concerning foreign employees. Furthermore, Harris has strong expertise in corporate compliance, helping companies and organizations to ensure adherence to internally established guidelines or industry regulations.
