Career

Deirdre McBennett is a banking lawyer at ByrneWallace LLP and has been a partner in the firm's Banking & Finance team for over 15 years. She acts for a range of domestic and international financial institutions, credit unions, private equity houses, alternative lenders, semi-state bodies, as well as corporate borrowers and approved housing bodies, advising in the areas of banking, capital markets and financial regulation.  Deirdre works mainly on corporate loan transactions, senior and mezzanine debt structures, acquisition finance, real estate finance, project finance, syndicated loans, loan sale transactions and debt restructuring.  She specialises in private financing for the social housing sector, and advises some of Ireland’s largest approved housing bodies (AHB’s) including Clúid Housing, Oaklee Housing, Circle Voluntary Housing Association and Tuath Housing.

Deirdre lectures on the Law Society of Ireland Professional Practice course (PPCII), and its diploma courses in Corporate Law & Governance and Insolvency & Corporate Restructuring.
