Murali was appointed the Deputy Managing Partner of the firm on 1 January 2013. He was subsequently appointed as the Managing Partner of Joseph Tan Jude Benny LLP in July 2013 and is also a Director of JTJB Myanmar Co Ltd. Murali has advised and acted in a wide range of cases. His shipping and maritime practice includes charterparty disputes, cargo claims, marine insurance, collisions, shipyard claims, casualty claims, laytime and demurrage claims and the arrest of vessels. His commercial practice is equally diverse and includes company insolvency and judicial management, contract claims, disputes involving directors and shareholders, fraud and professional negligence. He has appeared before the Singapore High Court and Court of Appeal. A number of his cases are reported. He also speaks regularly at seminars and conferences on shipping and commercial topics.

Murali was appointed by Tuvalu Ship Registry to practice Tuvalu law in February 2015. He is also a member of the Inquiry Panel in the Law Society of Singapore.
