Nicola qualified as a solicitor in 1991. She joined Rayfield Mills on its inception, becoming a partner in 1997.She joined Mills & Co as a partner in 2007 and is now a director of Mills & Co. Solicitors Limited. Nicola advises both shipyards and owners on the drafting and negotiation of ship construction, conversion and repair contracts and the resolution of disputes under those contracts. She also acts for owners on ship sale and purchase (including MOA disputes) and ship finance. She handles all forms of P&I and FDD disputes, advising on a broad range of charterparty and bill of lading issues ,including their overlap with international sale contracts. She mainly has experience of High Court litigation, mediation and LMAA arbitration but has also run several GAFTA and FOSFA arbitrations. On the non-contentious side Nicola advises on the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts including letters of credit and guarantees and commodity sale and purchase agreements.

Nicola has a BA Honours (History) from Bristol University.
