Pietro Sansonetti is Of Counsel in our Taxation Group in Geneva after having been a partner from 1999 until 2024. He has developed a strong practice on complex tax matters, both domestic and international.

Experience:

• He has in-depth knowledge of complex tax situations and extensive experience in dealing with tax authorities and enforcement matters including customs matters and international exchange of information.
• He is active in corporate matters, in particular reorganizations such as mergers and real estate transactions. He advises international official and  non-governmental organizations as well as non-profit entities, as well as pension funds
• He also works with individuals on family businesses, on partnership and private clients-related tax matters such as trusts and inheritance related issues as well as on tax litigation.

Publications in the field of criminal tax law enforcement matters Board Member of various organizations (pro-bono basis) including: Caritas Genève; The Swiss Foundation against Liver Cancer; Fondation RES (Rhumatismes-Enfants-Suisse); Fédération Suisse de Vol à Moteur / Motorflug-Verband der Schweiz (FSVM / MFVS) Regular speaker at international and Swiss conference and seminars on topics within his area of expertise He has been mentor to the faculty of Masters in international taxation at the University of Lausanne and Geneva, also lectured on criminal tax law at the Swiss Tax Academy He is involved in the tax community (Swiss Fiduciary Chamber, International Fiscal Association and Tax Chapter of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce in particular) He was the chairman of the Swiss examination commission for tax experts between 1999 and 2004 He has been member of the board of the Pension Fund at the Geneva Bar Association (Favia) from 2007 and chairman since 2017.
