Position

Philomena has extensive experience in advising businesses and individuals on employment law issues and is an experienced employment tribunal advocate with an impressive tribunal success rate.  She has been involved in successfully fighting a variety of claims, including complex discrimination claims, unfair dismissal and Agency Workers Regulations claims. Example of recent workload: conducting large scale collective redundancy exercises; advising on high profile executive severances; implementing disciplinary and grievance procedures; advising on long term sick absences; advising on TUPE in relation to the acquisition of a business. She regularly delivers training in person and has developed modules for on-line training for induction purposes on a variety of topics including Equality and Diversity. Prior to training as a solicitor, she worked at the Equality and Human Rights Commission and consequently has a particular interest in discrimination law. Key cases: Court of Appeal case of Wakeman and others v Quick Corporation and Employment Appeal Tribunal case of Ahmed v Metroline Travel Limited.
