Position

James is a senior associate in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) practice, based in our London office and focuses on intellectual property matters. He has extensive litigation experience (including on cases litigated at the High Court of England and Wales, the ECJ and General Court of the European Union) and advises on trade mark and patent litigation. James is an experienced adviser on complex trade mark prosecution strategies and regularly advises on opposition and invalidity actions. He also advises on defamation matters. In addition to contentious matters, James advises on IP licensing in commercial arrangements.

James has qualifications in intellectual property law from both the University of Oxford and University College London.

James has in-house experience, having previously worked in the legal teams at SpinVox Limited (now part of Nuance), a high-tech mobile communications company, and at Catlin Group Limited, the FTSE 250 specialty underwriter.
