Keynote Speakers Confirmed for Jersey Finance London Conferences

Former White House economist Todd Buchholz and heavyweight political broadcaster Andrew Marr will deliver keynote speeches at Jersey Finance’s flagship funds and private wealth conferences being held in London later this year.

At the Jersey Finance Annual London Funds Conference, to be held on 10 September at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Todd Buchholz, former Director for Economic Policy at the White House, and BBC history broadcaster and presenter Dan Snow will both take to the stage.

Todd is also the managing director of the US$15 billion Tiger hedge fund and an award-winning economics teacher at Harvard. Alongside his government, business and academic work, Todd is the author of a number of best-selling titles and speaks regularly on politics, economics, society and culture.

‘History man’ Dan Snow is a renowned BBC broadcaster and presenter. With a double first from Oxford, Dan has presented a number of popular TV series, including the BAFTA award-winning Battlefield Britain alongside his father Peter Snow.

The conference, entitled ‘Beyond Boundaries’, will explore key issues shaping the funds sector, including the increasingly global outlook of fund managers, shifts in regulation and distribution, and the rise of the alternatives sector.

Meanwhile, leading political broadcaster Andrew Marr and celebrated sports journalist, award-winning author and performance expert Matthew Syed will give keynote speeches at the Jersey Finance Annual Private Wealth Conference, at 8 Northumberland Avenue on 26 September.

Andrew Marr is a key player on the political correspondence scene. The host of The Andrew Marr Show, the agenda-setting Sunday breakfast magazine, Andrew spent five years as a political editor and has also fronted landmark series on history, politics and society.

Finally, England’s top table tennis player for ten years, Matthew is also a leading author and expert on creating cultures of high performance in high-pressure environments. Based on his own experiences as a world-class sportsman, his best-selling books, Bounce and Black Box Thinking, help to apply his theory of peak performance to business and any aspect of life.

The conference, entitled ‘Building Better Futures’, will examine how wealth management professionals can better support clients through political and economic uncertainty, while regulation, technology and ethical investing will all also fall under the spotlight.

Commenting on the upcoming conferences, Joe Moynihan, CEO of Jersey Finance, said:

“Engaging with our key London audience on issues that really resonate with them is absolutely vital and with our series of high-profile speakers across both of our flagship events in London this year, I’m convinced we will achieve that and provoke some interesting, positive debate. We expect both events to be hugely popular among the London finance and legal communities.”

Further details about this year’s conferences will be announced in due course, with registration available at www.jerseyfinance.je/events. Last year, Jersey Finance’s London conferences were attended by a total of more than 900 experts from across the Jersey, London and international funds and private wealth communities.
