We were instructed by a leading maritime legal practice in the UK, on behalf of their Client, based also in the UK , to apply for the ship arrest of a vessel with Russian flag, located in the territorial waters of Cyprus, based on a 1.3 million claim for outstanding invoices in respect of goods and services provided to the vessel for her operation and maintenance.
A team from our shipping department in Limassol, compromised of Christiana Achilleos, Sonia Ajini with the support of Skevi Charalambous, responded immediately and prepared the writ in rem and the application as a matter of urgency, to represent the Client’s interests and secure the arrest of the vessel before she left the territorial waters of Cyprus.
The speedy response and the coordinated teamwork with the instructing law firm from the UK, were key factors to achieving an early and successful ship arrest which ultimately led to the repayment of the outstanding amount due to the Client and the release of the vessel from arrest.
George Zambartas and a partner from the UK law firm led the case.
