SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan hosted the Pacific Rim Advisory Council (PRAC) 60th International Conference last September 24-27, 2016. The Conference gathered 43 delegates from PRAC member firms in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, The Netherlands, and the United States of America. The conference program provided delegates with various learning and networking opportunities.

The conference program provided delegates with various learning and networking opportunities.
SyCipLaw hosted a welcome cocktails on the 24th for delegates, which was followed by dine arounds at choice restaurants in Makati, and a delegation group tour and Luncheon and dinners at partner homes on the 25th.
The business program formally opened on the 26th with welcome remarks from PRAC Chairman Ross Perrett and SyCipLaw Partner Leslie C. Dy. The firm’s Interim Managing Partner Hector M. de Leon Jr., delivered the country briefing, which was followed by a presentation from special guest speaker Noritaka Akamatsu of the Asian Development Bank on ASEAN+3 Financial Integration.
SyCipLaw Partner Arlene M. Maneja facilitated a panel session on Public-Private Partnerships. The panel featured Mia G. Sebastian, director/technical advisor of the Public-Private Partnership Center, as guest speaker. The panel was composed of John Shirbin of Clayton Utz (Sydney, Australia), Tim Fletcher of Hogan Lovells (Hong Kong), Philip Payne of Ali Budiardjo Nugroho Reksodiputro (Jakarta, Indonesia), and Rocky Alejandro L. Reyes of SyCipLaw.
A tour of the Supreme Court of the Philippines and meet-and-greet with Justice Marvic Leonen capped the third day of the conference.
The business program on the morning of the 27th featured a panel discussion on Data Security. The panel was developed and moderated by Rose Marie M. King-Dominguez of SyCipLaw and Moira Huggard-Caine of TozziniFreire Advogados (Brazil) and had Kama Neson Ganeson, technical director of ECCI Philippines, as guest speaker and panelist. Other panelists were J. Warren Gorrell, Jr. of Hogan Lovells (Washington DC, USA) and José María Durán of Rousaud Costas Durán S.L.P. (Barcelona, Spain).
In the afternoon, Simeon Ken R. Ferrer of SyCipLaw introduced delegates to SyCipLaw alumni and General Counsel Forum panelists Joseph Trillana Gonzales of Aboitiz Power Corporation, Valerie Feria Amante of Jollibee Foods Corporation, and June Vee Monteclaro-Navarro of Ayala Land, Inc. The general counsel were joined by Kevin Keenan of Baker Botts LLP (Houston, USA) with John Shirbin leading and moderating the forum.
The conference ended that evening with a gala dinner that regaled delegates and guests with live music and traditional Filipino dances.
