Yury Babichev’s promotion to Partner boosts and consolidates the firm’s cross-border dispute resolution and international arbitration capabilities amidst booming demand for these services.
Yury’s focus is on international arbitrations and cross-border litigations. He is experienced in commercial and investment arbitrations, fraud and conspiracy claims, derivative litigations, shareholder disputes, contentious M&A transactions, large-scale debt recovery and restructurings, distressed asset sales and other special situations involving multiple jurisdictions. Yury has advised clients on litigations in various jurisdictions, including England, the USA, the BVI, Bermuda, Cyprus, Ireland, Malta, Turkey, Switzerland, France and The Netherlands, and arbitral proceedings seated in major arbitration centres, such as London, Paris, Stockholm, Moscow, Hong Kong and The Hague, under multiple arbitration rules.
Yury’s clients include major Russian and foreign companies across a broad spectrum of industries, including energy, oil&gas, machine building, metals, IT and FinTech.
The Partner appointment comes after 4.5 productive years as BCLP Counsel following ten years working at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.
In 2007, Yury graduated with distinction from Moscow State University Law School, following up with an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School with Harlan Fiske Stone distinction in 2010.
Yury Babichev was named a winner of the 2016-2019 RAA40 Awards Top-10 arbitration practitioners under 40 and is recommended as a Rising Star by The Legal 500 2020.
