Siam Premier “Siam Premier”) is excited to welcome four lawyers from Kennedys’ Bangkok Office to our insurance and dispute resolution practice.
Leading the new team is Suraphon Rittipongponchusit, who is returning to Siam Premier as a Senior Consultant after 15 years of leadership at DLA Piper (Thailand) Limited and Kennedys (Thailand) Limited. Suraphon brings more than 40 years of experience in commercial litigation and arbitration, particularly in contentious insurance claims and subrogation claims, bankruptcy and restructuring related proceedings, construction and shareholders’ disputes. Moreover, he is a trusted advisor in high profile clients’ negotiations and is highly regarded in his representation on very complex matters of Thai insurance law, especially those relating to highly complex claims.
Suraphon is recognized and ranked as one of Thailand’s leading practitioners for both Insurance and Dispute Resolution in Chambers Asia Pacific 2021. Suraphon is also ranked as a ‘Leading Individual’ for Insurance and Dispute Resolution (Thailand) in Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2021.
Joining Suraphon is Tassanu Chutikanon, who has joined the firm as a Special Counsel, transferring from Kennedys’ Bangkok office where he specialized in corporate and commercial, commercial agreements and disputes, mergers and acquisitions, insurance (including medical malpractice) and tax (including domestic and international tax). Tassanu also possesses extensive industry subject-matter knowledge in insurance matters, including most prominently advising clients in the healthcare sector on malpractice claims and aviation industry in regards to subrogration claims.
For this work, which spans across South East Asia and international jurisdictions, Tassanu has been recognized by leading international publications for his work in the most complex matters: including recognition as a Recommended Lawyer for Corporate and M&A (Thailand) in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2021 and as a Recommended Lawyer for ‘Dispute resolution (Thailand)’ in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2020.
In addition to his work advising clients, Tassanu regularly contributes to developing insights and frequently speaks on industry panels, on topics including consumer protection, tax and medical malpractice. He was also an external legal counsel for the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital as well as a visiting lecturer at Kasetsart University where he taught courses on negotiation and contract drafting.
Suraphon and Tassanu Chutikanon are supported by associates Sukollapak Klungmontri and Niti Wanichworranan, also joining the firm from Kennedys’ Bangkok office.
