Shin & Kim LLC, (“Shin & Kim”) represented by Managing Partner Jong-han Oh, announced on the 19th that Dong-kyu Kim (29th Class of the JRTI),former Presiding Judge of the Seoul Southern District Court, and Hun-tae Doh (33rd Class of the JRTI), former Presiding Judge of the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Court.
Former Presiding Judge Dong-kyu Kim completed the 29th Class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute (JRTI) and has served for over 20 years in the Seoul Central District Court, Seoul High Court, and the Supreme Court of Korea. Mr. Kim is a prominent judge in the field of insolvency as proven during his service as a Presiding Judge of the Bankruptcy/Insolvency Division of the Suwon District Court, with his most notable work being handling a workout by first applying the ARS program and the Corporate Restructuring Promotion Act at the same time as well as several other high-profile bankruptcy/insolvency cases later as a Presiding Judge of the Seoul Bankruptcy Court.
With the looming threats stemming from the recent real estate PF risks and the growing importance of handling workouts, Mr. Kim will be at the forefront of the firm’s newly established Corporate Restructuring Center to draw on his years of experience and unparalleled expertise in the field of insolvency.
Former Presiding Judge Hun-tae Doh completed the 33rd Class of the JRTI and has served as a leading tax judge for 20 years in the Suwon District Court, Seoul Central District Court, and the Supreme Court of Korea. In particular, Mr. Doh is highly recognized as having outstanding capabilities and expertise in the tax field, presiding over tax appeal cases at the Suwon District Court and Ulsan District Court and serving for five years as the Chief Judicial Researcher at the Tax Division of the Supreme Court of Korea.
In addition, Mr. Doh has been very active in academic performance and progress of higher education in the field of taxation, publishing many articles on tax laws and lecturing in professional training courses at universities. He is also an outstanding interdisciplinary expert in taxation and insolvency with years of service at the Bankruptcy/Insolvency Division of the Seoul Central District Court.
