Leading law firm Bell Gully has appointed Anna Buchly as its new Chair.
Chris Gordon has stepped down after over three years in the role, to resume full time practice.
"The board and the partnership would like to thank Chris for the great contribution he has made to the firm and to our people in his time as Chair, including in his role as a "Champion for Change" and his commitment to ensuring the firm's culture is one where our people can thrive," Ms Buchly said.
She said she was looking forward to the opportunity to build on that contribution and to ensure the firm continues to provide the highest level of service to its clients. "I'm delighted and honoured to be leading us through the next chapter for Bell Gully."
Ms Buchly has over 20 years' legal experience in New Zealand, Australia and Dubai. A corporate partner since 2008, she has been a board member for the past three years. She has also been a graduate recruitment partner and one of the leaders of the firm's international strategy.
Mr Gordon is returning to full time practice as part of the Bell Gully partnership.
"I have been very lucky to have had the opportunity to Chair the firm and, in that capacity, work closely with the wonderful people within it and the valued clients who entrust us with their work. I look forward to building on those relationships in full-time practice," he said.
Mr Gordon specialises in corporate and commercial work, with particular expertise in the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors, and international investment into New Zealand. Mr Gordon is ranked in these areas across a number of leading international legal directories, including Chambers Asia Pacific 2018, The Legal 500 2018 and in the IFLR1000 2018, which also ranks him for mergers and acquisitions work.
