The Austrian Anadi Bank plans to offer banking services at Austrian tobacconist shops, under the brand name “MARIE”. Therefore, it will soon be possible to have bank accounts and cards, make incoming and outgoing payments and obtain consumer loans at numerous tobacconist shops. In addition, each partner shop will have a tablet that is directly connected with the systems of the Austrian Anadi Bank; using this tablet, customers will be able to choose and order the available banking products themselves. It will also be possible to make cash transactions at the participating tobacconist shops.
Binder Grösswang comprehensively advised the Austrian Anadi Bank on its preparations for the cooperation, including the contractual framework and associated legal issues, once more demonstrating the law firm’s extensive expertise in dealing with complex, banking regulatory projects. Binder Grösswang Partner Stephan Heckenthaler comments: “We are pleased that we were able to successfully support the Austrian Anadi Bank in taking this important strategic step.”
The Binder Grösswang team was led by Stephan Heckenthaler (partner, banking & finance) and included Stefan Frank (counsel, banking & finance) and Andreas Perkonig (associate, banking & finance).
