Niederer Kraft Frey acted as Swiss counsel to the global healthcare group Fresenius SE & CO. KGaA (Fresenius) on the sale of the majority of Vamed’s rehabilitation business to PAI Partners (PAI).

Upon completion of the transaction, PAI will become the majority owner of the new company with 67 per cent, while Fresenius will retain 33 per cent. The rehabilitation business comprises 67 facilities with 9,100 beds and around 9,500 employees (FTE) across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and the UK.

Fresenius was inhouse represented with a legal team led by head of legal M&A/Transformation Jan Winzen. Latham & Watkins LLP acted as lead counsel for Fresenius and was led by Frankfurt/Düsseldorf M&A/Private Equity partner Tobias Larisch.
