The life sciences team of The Luzzatto Group won two prestigious awards from the international ranking LMG Life Science—the “Israeli Firm of the Year ” award and the “Firm of the Year in Patent Strategy and Management” award, selected between firms in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. Dr. Kfir Luzzatto, president of the Group: “In these days of boycotts of Israeli science and research, this is a refreshing breath of fresh air. We are proud and excited to receive the two prizes.”

The Luzzatto Group, the oldest intellectual property group in Israel, attained a double and extraordinary international achievement when its life sciences team was selected by the award committee of the LMG Life Sciences Global Ranking to receive the “Firm of the Year in Israel” award as well as the “Firm of the Year in Patent Strategy and Management” award, given to a single firm in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.

This is one of the most prestigious and well-respected awards in the arena of law firms and intellectual property firms worldwide, specializing in, among other things, the life sciences industries. It is intended to publicly highlight the unique contribution and professionalism of the patent attorneys and lawyers who engaged in life sciences legal practice during the 12 months preceding the announcement of the award. The ranking-based award is based on examining professional work in the field of life sciences, such as filing patents and managing litigation cases, and rankings of the patent attorneys behind them.

The ceremony occurred in London last Thursday, May 16, 2024, at a unique gala evening.

“We are proud and excited to receive the two awards that reflect the great expertise of our life sciences team in the fields of life sciences, biotechnology, digital health, pharma, and medical devices,” said Dr. Kfir Luzzatto, patent attorney and president of the Group, which is currently celebrating its 155th anniversary.

“Our patent attorneys are considered world-renowned experts in the field of Life Sciences and MedTech,” he added and noted that the Group represents many multinational pharmaceutical companies operating in Israel and hundreds of Israeli companies, including many start-ups in these fields. Only last April, the Group won a significant Novartis case concerning Patent Term Extension (PTE), which has broad implications for pharmaceutical patent holders.

“Precisely in these depressing days of wild demonstrations against Israel on campuses in the USA and a silent boycott of Israeli researchers and scientists, these awards are a refreshing breath of fresh air,” stressed Dr. Luzzatto.

Tamar Luzzatto, a lawyer and head of business development and marketing of the Group, stated that in March, the candidates’ final list (the “shortlist”) for the international and prestigious award was released. The Group’s life sciences team was shortlisted in five categories, the largest number of any other firm in Israel.

She further stated that the Group’s professionals who were personally included in the award lists are Dr. Kfir Luzzatto, in the category ” Professional of the Year in Patent Litigation,” and Prof. Emanuel Manzurola, in the category “Professional of the Year in Patent Management and Patent Strategy.”

She emphasized that awards were given based on market evaluation and analysis, according to the Group’s direct contribution to clients and independent research, including peer feedback and client reviews.
