Charity Partner

This year, the Legal 500 Bar Awards will support the Billable Hour appeal for charity Save the Children, through a Silent Auction.

In the UK and around the world, Save the Children ensure children keep safe, healthy and learning. They work alongside children in 115 countries, including the UK.

With global Save the Children members, their shared ambition is that by 2030;

  • no child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday
  • all children learn from a quality basic education
  • violence against children is no longer tolerated.

By providing live-saving short-term help, and pushing for deep-rooted social change, Save the Children help children take their future into their own hands.

Children like Kanha, 12, who lives with her aunt and her grandmother in a floating house on Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia.

Kanha has witnessed the impact of climate change and changing weather patterns first-hand. She attends eco lessons Save the Children have introduced at schools where children learn about climate change and the environment, and take part in activities like collecting rubbish from the lake and growing floating gardens behind their school. She’s now passionate about the environment and is calling on adults in her community to follow her lead. She says, “When I grow up, I want to be a teacher because as a teacher, I can teach the students, making them and younger generation more knowledgeable.”
