Francisco J. Cerezo, Partner Chair, US-Latin America practice, Chair, Latin America Corporate & Finance, DLA Piper
Francisco Cerezo is the firm’s Chair, US-Latin America Practice and Chair of Latin America Corporate & Finance. He focuses his practice on corporate and international matters, advising US and foreign companies, private equity funds, family groups and sovereigns doing business globally and with a focus in the Americas and the Caribbean.
He has extensive experience in corporate and financial services, cross-border transactions, strategic corporate counseling, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and public-private partnerships. He regularly counsels global companies and private equity funds doing business in the Americas on matters ranging from complex transactions and market entry issues to compliance and general corporate strategic counsel.
Francisco also serves as principal outside counsel to several significant family groups on matters ranging from corporate governance and succession planning to representing their underlying portfolio companies in billions of dollars of transactions, ranging from banking and energy to telecom and retail.
Chambers Global recognized him for Corporate/M&A work and cited for “his impressive client list including leading Latin American companies in industries as diverse as financial services, telecoms and tourism, and he has enjoyed notable highlights.”

Anna Dutra, general counsel, Avenue
Anna Dutra graduated in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. Anna has more than 25 years of experience. Joined Barbosa, Müssnich & Aragão Advogados, a reference in Brazilian corporate law, at the beginning of 1997, and remained there for more than 12 years. In 2009, Anna joined the financial group Brasil Plural (currently called Genial Investimentos) as a founding partner, leading the legal department of the various companies that make up the group for 8 years. She was a partner in the capital markets area at Dias Carneiro Advogados from the end of 2017 to 2019. From 2019 to the end of 2020, she served as general counsel at Prisma Capital, an independent asset management firm specialized in alternative investments. In 2021 she joined Avenue Securities as General Counsel and became a partner at Avenue.
Julian Graciano, legal vice president, Yellowstone Capital Partners
Julián is Legal Vice President at Yellowstone Capital Partners, a pioneering Pan-American private equity real estate firm. He has a Law degree from Universidad del Rosario, a post-graduate degree in taxation from Universidad de los Andes, and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the New York University School of Law (NYU). His practice is focused on corporate law, M&A, private equity, and transactional law.
Alfredo Apestegui, partner and chief legal officer, Mesoameric
Alfredo is Partner and Chief Legal Officer at Mesoamerica, based out of San Jose, Costa Rica. In addition to his role as General Counsel and Compliance Officer for the firm, he is in charge of the private equity investment division, focused in energy transition and decarbonization, and is also actively involved in the firm’s investment banking practice, leading M&A transactions and investments throughout Latin America.
Before joining Mesoamerica, Alfredo worked for 4 years as Sr. Counsel for Latin America for American International Group Inc. (AIG), as well as 5 years in the global mergers and acquisitions division of Ernst & Young LLP in New York.
Alfredo is an attorney with extensive experience in private equity and mergers and acquisitions in the US and Latin America. He has an LLM degree from New York University and a law degree from Universidad Escuela Libre de Derecho. He is licensed to practice Law in New York State and in Costa Rica
