Vicki Bradin, general counsel, Sage
Vicki leads the legal, company secretariat, cyber security, risk, compliance, assurance, procurement and business travel teams. She has extensive corporate legal experience, built over 20 years in global and magic circle law firms and in-house at large multi-nationals and UK- Iisted companies. Vicki contributes in-depth software and technology sector knowledge and experience across a breadth of legal areas including M&A, litigation, risk and intellectual property.
Sabine Chalmers, general counsel, BT
Sabine Chalmers is the General Counsel, Director of Regulatory Affairs and Company Secretary of BT Group Plc. BT Group is the UK’s leading provider of fixed and mobile telecommunications and related secure digital products, solutions and services. It also provides managed telecommunications, security and network and IT infrastructure services to customers across 180 countries.
Sabine is also a member of the board of directors of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s leading brewer; the Court of the Bank of England; and Chair of the Kiln Theatre.
Sabine was formerly Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer of Anheuser-Busch InBev where she led a team of 400+ legal, regulatory, media, sustainability, M&A and compliance professionals across the globe and worked on some of world’s largest and most complex corporate acquisitions and integrations. She is also a former board director of Coty Inc., the global beauty products company, and the National Theatre.
Sabine is a British and US citizen of Indian and German heritage. She has lived and worked in multiple countries across Asia, Europe and the United States.
Sabine received her LL.B from the London School of Economics in 1986 and is qualified to practice law in England and Wales and New York.
Yani Davis, global general counsel, Unilever
Yani is an experienced general counsel at Unilever having performed varied roles including global category GC roles, global retail operations and GC for Vietnam. Most recently she led Unilever’s high profile negotiation with FIFA and has stepped into a broader business role leading football governance and operations.
Andrew Fleming, general counsel, British Airways
Andy is the General Counsel and Company Secretary at British Airways Plc. He looks after the legal department, compliance and data protection, company secretariat, insurance and property teams. He joined BA in 2008 and was previously in private practice at Taylor Wessing.
Stephanie Lopes, chief legal officer, Volt
Stephanie trained at Bird & Bird London for a decade, where she assisted with a wide range of commercial matters with a focus on data commercialisation and governance, IT and technology. She has significant experience and a good understanding of the issues in these areas, having undertaken several in-house secondments at headquarters of some of the world’s largest companies. She is now chief legal officer at Volt, an open banking payments scale up.
Angus McBride, general counsel, News UK
Angus McBride was appointed News UK’s general counsel in April 2016. As EVP general counsel he works across their publishing and broadcast brands, responsible for overseeing the legal and compliance teams. He sits on the executive team of the business.
Angus began his thirty five year legal career in legal aid practice before becoming a Partner at leading international law firm Kingsley Napley in 2003 where he worked in criminal defence.
In 2020 the Legal 500 Awards named him ‘In House Individual of the Year’ in the media sector.
Lara Oyesanya, non-executive director, PensionBee
Lara Oyesanya is a seasoned financial services chief legal officer, general counsel and company secretary with international experience. She’s skilled in regulatory, payments, enterprise risk management, consumer protection, SME law, offshore, employee relations (contentious and non-contentious), corporate transactions and commercial banking.
Lara is an independent non-executive director at PensionBee Group plc; a board trustee at Shaw Trust; a contributing editor to LexisNexis Encyclopaedia of Banking Law; and a fellow of The RSA. She was named ‘Business Woman of the Year’ & ‘Corporate Leader’ at the 2018 FL National Awards, BBBA Financial Services Senior Leader of the Year 2021, and was ‘Woman in Legal’ winner of the 2022 Women4Africa Awards, as well as being ranked in The Lawyer Hot 100 2021. Formerly, Lara was Zepz chief legal officer and group general counsel; Contis general counsel and chief risk officer; legal director at Klarna; senior legal counsel at Barclays and BAE Systems; a divisional counsel at RAC; a legal director at HBOS (Lloyds Banking Group); and group head of legal at Lex (Lex Autolease).
Lara is a former co-opted member of the University of Cambridge Council Committee (CBELA) that advised the vice-chancellor on benefactions, a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales, as well as a barrister of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She is a law graduate (LL.B Hons) of the University of Lagos with an LL.M in Comparative Company Law.
Nicki Schroeder, group GC, Reach
Nicki is group general counsel at Reach Plc, the largest newspaper publishing group in the United Kingdom, including household names such as The Mirror, The Express and OK magazine. The group also has publications in the Republic of Ireland and the US. Nicki manages a team of 20 employed legal and data protection specialists, supported by an additional ten freelance prepublication lawyers providing out of hours editorial legal cover to our publications.
With more than 20 years in the legal media sector, she began her career in private practice where she had a thriving defamation and copyright defendant practice, before moving in-house. She has since worked in-house in both the broadcast and print sectors.
Matt Wilson, general counsel, Fremantle
Matt is group general counsel at global content producer Fremantle. Fremantle produces over 12,000 hours of original programming every year across drama, entertainment, documentaries and film. He joined Fremantle in August 2021 and sits on the global board. Prior to Fremantle, Matt was general counsel for EMEA & APAC for Uber, and previously held roles at Telefonica o2, The Arsenal Football Club and Baker McKenzie.
Andrew Yorston, general counsel, Vodafone
Andy Yorston joined Vodafone in 2010 and became general counsel for Vodafone UK in 2021 having previously held positions as head of legal and head of risk and compliance. Prior to joining Vodafone he was a commercial litigator at Eversheds Sutherland.
