During the last five years, numerous regulations have been approved and entered into force at the national and community level that seek to promote a digital single market while protecting the fundamental values of the EU. However, while some see the prolific legislative exercise as a positive aspect, which aims to safeguard fundamental principles and rights and protect internal competition thanks to its vocation to extend beyond community borders, others describe it as overregulation that can affect ultimately to the competitiveness of the European economy.
