Sarah Gonem is a Partner at Z&Co., with her core practice in commercial litigation. Being a UK qualified solicitor, and having practiced for many years in London prior to joining Z&Co., Sarah acts as an essential conduit between the local Sharia and judicial context and international best practices in the management of complex commercial issues and disputes.
Martin Creek, partner, Zamakhchary & Co
Martin is Head of Z&Co’s transactions practice and has been based with the firm in Riyadh since 2013. His experience prior to joining Z&Co. includes working in the corporate department at Slaughter and May in London. Martin has considerable experience of advising clients on a wide range of matters including M&A, joint ventures, foreign investments, projects, bank financings and capital markets.
Martin received his law degree from the University of Oxford, BA in Jurisprudence and is admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales.
Majed AlRayani, executive director of legal affairs, Health Holding Company
Majed AlRayani is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as the Executive Director of Legal Advisory at the Health Holding Company (HHC). He also serves as Chairman of the Appeal Committee at the Saudi Rowing Federation and the Chairman of the Appeal Committee at the Saudi Archery Federation, in addition to holding similar roles in other national sports federations. Majed holds a Master’s degree in Law from King Abdulaziz University and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Royal Roads University in Canada. In addition to his current role, Majed previously served as Legal Director at NUPCO (National Unified Procurement Company), where he played a pivotal role in managing legal strategies and procurement operations at a national level. With over a decade of experience across both public and private sectors, Majed has built a strong legal foundation through senior roles at leading organizations including Saudi Electricity Company, King Abdulaziz Medical City (Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs), and NOMAC (an ACWA Power subsidiary). His background spans healthcare, electricity, procurement, and energy, where he has managed legal departments, advised C-level executives, negotiated complex contracts, and ensured regulatory compliance. Brian McDonnell serves as Head of Legal at Siemens Healthineers, Saudi Arabia where he leads the legal team in all aspects of commercial legal support, corporate governance, litigation and legal strategy across all aspects Siemens Healthineers key business areas including diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, enterprise solutions business areas as well as more recently, its Varian radiotherapy business and newly established Regional Headquarter.

Ewan West, KC, Monckton Chambers
Ewan West has a high-profile practice spanning all kinds of commercial disputes, with particular expertise and experience in the field of Government contracting, acting for both private companies and public bodies. Prior to coming to the English Bar he was a senior civil servant in the UK Department for Transport. As well as dealing with the full run of matters relating to contractual formation and performance, his practice also covers the areas of public procurement, competition, state subsidy and trade disputes, including under the new post-Brexit regime. He also acts for and against regulatory bodies, including regulators in the utilities sector, as well as providing a full range of related advisory services. He holds an MBA from Cranfield University and is CEDR-accredited mediator.
Lana Massad, senior associate, Al Akeel & Partners
Lana is an Associate that has worked on transactions that cover a wide spectrum of legal sectors, from litigation, mediation, and arbitration, to corporate/commercial matters for clients operating in various industries.
Lana’s litigation experience includes handling disputes involving the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority for alleged dues and fines claimed to be in the hundreds of millions of Saudi Riyals. On the corporate/commercial side, Lana’s experience includes advising on laws and regulations involving the Saudi Capital Market Authority (i.e. IPOs. rights issues, etc.), foreign investment, corporate restructuring, construction, employment, intellectual property, agency/distribution, franchising, and conducting legal due diligence reviews on corporate entities operating in the Kingdom. Lana’s requested legal opinions spanned assessment of minority shareholder rights, real estate fund regulations, and fund management authorities.
Lana has authored several publications and studies in relation to international humanitarian law and business law. Marc Saroufim, managing partner, Al Akeel & Partners
Marc is the Managing Partner at Al Akeel & Partners. He is a US-trained legal consultant with over 20 years’ experience, providing advisory services on a wide range of legal matters in the corporate and commercial spheres. His career spanned practices in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the USA, and in addition to being recommended as a corporate legal consultant of note by the prominent publication ‘Corporate Law Experts’ in 2019, he was nominated by the IFLR for Managing Partner of the Year for Middle East-Based Law Firms in 2022.
Marc has advised a variety of clients, including local and international entities/conglomerates, family-owned businesses, high-net-worth individuals, government organisations, and small and medium-sized enterprises, on transactions involving joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, rights issues, real estate development, agency and distribution, franchises, intellectual property, corporate formations, employment, and company restructuring.

Drew Holiner, barrister, Monckton Chambers
Drew specialises in commercial dispute resolution and is admitted to practise in the DIFC, Russia, the UK (England and the Territory of the Virgin Islands), the United States (California) and Ireland. His practice is focused on International Commercial Arbitration and Litigation.
Drew is regularly instructed to act as counsel or arbitrator in commercial disputes. He has experience in arbitrations conducted under HKIAC, ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICAC (Russia) rules as well as ad hoc proceedings.
Drew is also a world-renowned Expert in Russian and CIS law. He has over 20 years of specialist experience acting or advising in matters applying the laws of Russia and other CIS States. A premier litigator in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ebrahim possesses extensive experience in legal and Shari’a-related matters. Ziad is the Group Chief Legal Officer at ASYAD Holding and is responsible for the Company and its subsidiaries’ legal and Governance affairs. Ziad also serves as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of ASYAD Holding.
Ziad joined ASYAD in April 2023 and he brings his 28 years’ experience, whether as an in-house lawyer working for family offices and multi-billion conglomerates or in the private practice working for regional and international law firms in various jurisdictions such as Lebanon, UAE, KSA, and Singapore. He advised on a wide range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, corporate & commercial, the PPP projects, and the project financing.
Ziad has been also a guest lecturer at Paris- La Sorbonne University in Paris-France where he teaches to LLM students the “Companies corporate structures and commercial practices in the GCC”.

Arwa is licensed to practice law and notary services by the Ministry of Justice in Saudi Arabia. She holds a Master’s degree (LLM) in International Business Law from the University of East London, where she graduated with distinction.
As Vice Chairperson of the Disciplinary Committee at the Saudi Equestrian Federation, Arwa is responsible for ensuring the integrity of equestrian sports. In her role as Chairperson of the Audit Committee for Dnaneer Financing Company, she oversees financial audits, risk assessments, and compliance with financial standards, fostering transparency and stakeholder trust.
At the FII-I, Arwa serves as General Counsel & Board Secretary, and leading the Legal, Board Secretary, Governance, and Procurement divisions. As a member of the executive committee, she has been instrumental in developing and enhancing governance frameworks incorporating best practices. Shahd Alghamdi, is Head of the Real Estate Portfolio Projects and Transactions 1 Legal Advisory Section, within the Legal Division in the Public Investment Fund. Gerard leads the Dubai office’s International Arbitration and Construction & Engineering practices. He is recognised as “an excellent litigator” who provides clients with a “wealth of experience” in the Middle East and a “detailed knowledge of arbitration practice”.
He has significant experience in “bet-the-farm” disputes, helping clients navigate their most complex and high-stakes legal challenges. Recently, in a classic “David v Goliath” battle, Gerard helped a family-run contracting business win a multi-million dollar ICC arbitration against a large, publicly-listed Middle East conglomerate.
Clients deeply value his technical ability and steady composure during times of crisis. For one client, he recently secured orders to prevent the liquidation of performance bonds worth hundreds of millions of dollars, protecting his clients from an existential threat to their business.

Mr. Othman is a distinguished international legal advisor with decades of expertise in complex business and financial transactions. He holds degrees from the prestigious University of Michigan School of Economics and School of Law in the United States and is licensed to practice law in New York and Illinois.
Before joining Vision Invest, Mr. Othman served as the Managing Director and Chief Governance Officer at one of Saudi Arabia’s largest capital markets firms. Kassim Meghjee, partner, Mishcon de Reya
Kassim is a Partner in Mishcon Private and leads the Middle East efforts. He is a specialist in both personal and corporate tax, placing him in a unique position where he can advise individuals, families, and family-owned companies. As a result, he is regularly sought out by clients for advice on all of their assets including those owned directly, through trusts or other similar structures. Kassim has extensive experience in advising prominent families, companies and family offices from Saudi Arabia and the GCC countries.
