Event Report
The Legal 500 was delighted to be in New York to host its Disputes Summit on 20 September 2022.
The event brought together in-house counsel based in the region to exchange their points of view on the challenges and opportunities for in-house counsel within the market including whistleblowing, diversity and ESG.
After Chris Kay, conference producer at The Legal 500 opened the Summit, the first session led by Brian Blas of Ropes & Gray, examined the legal framework surrounding workplace misconduct and the evolving landscape in the wake of recent developments.
The next session was a three-part participation organised by Russell Capone and Lindsay Jenkins, Partners at Cooley LLP as well as insightful contribution from Stephanie Accousti, global head of integrity investigations at ABB. Â The conversation focused on the recent expansion of whistle-blower rights and the correct procedures to follow during an investigation.
The final session was presented by Jason Halper of Cadwalader along with Sara Bussiere and dynamic views from Genie Cesar-Fabian, general counsel at Ethic. Lively discussion was had as to the best practice for board directors and committees on proactively assessing enterprise-wide risk and the opportunities associated with climate transition, as well as the trends in ESG related litigation.
Thanks again to Ropes & Gray LLP, Cooley LLP and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP for supporting the event, and our panellists for sharing their insights into these hot topics.
