The Colombian GC Powerlist has been a great success. Everyone was really excited to be meeting fellow colleagues and to finally be able to share ideas in person. Alejandro Mesa, Managing partner at Baker McKenzie, stressed how the firm is very pleased ‘to continue sponsoring this event that allows us not only to reconnect with colleagues and friends, but to also recognise the best in-house lawyers in the country’. Echoing Mesa’s words, Alejandro Amelines Guerrero, Legal and compliance manager at Fura Gem Colombia, expressed his gratitude for being included by The Legal 500 in ‘their prestigious Powerlist ranking that recognises the value of General counsel across the world’. Among many, two are the topics that recurred in the room: how ESG are increasingly part of the companies’ agenda, regardless of their size and how training young lawyers has become quite a challenge. This is because they are more drawn to have jobs that do not demand their presence in an office after the weight remote working gained worldwide.
