On May 16th, The Legal 500, in partnership with EY, hosted the launch event for the GC Powerlist: Denmark 2024. Held at EY’s offices in Copenhagen, this year’s edition shifted its focus from teams to recognising the top in-house lawyers in the country. Under a brilliant spring sun, the event gathered the distinguished individuals featured in the publication to celebrate their remarkable and well-deserved recognition.

The attendees included some of the most influential in-house lawyers in the country, along with key representatives from The Legal 500 and EY. This convergence of top legal minds and industry leaders created an environment ripe for networking, knowledge sharing, and mutual celebration of the honouree’s successes. The event was not only a recognition of individual excellence but also a testament to the critical role that in-house legal counsel play in the broader business landscape.

The event featured several brief speeches emphasising the significance and achievements of those included in the GC Powerlist: Denmark 2024. Francisco Castro, The Legal 500’s editorial lead for the publication, delivered the welcome address, congratulating all GCs included and highlighting key insights from the research. He underscored the ongoing indispensability of GCs to C-level management, business strategy, and executive decisions, as well as noting their continued high level of activity despite the current political and economic uncertainties in Europe

Following Francisco’s introduction, Kathrine Pors Johnsen, executive vice president and general counsel at Lars Larsen Group, spoke on behalf of selectees. She expressed gratitude to EY and The Legal 500 for hosting the event and summarised the evolving importance of the legal function within companies and the role of the General Counsel.

Concluding the speeches, Jeff Soar, EY Global Law Leader, extended heartfelt congratulations to the featured individuals. In his address, he highlighted the crucial role of in-house lawyers in providing essential support to businesses and driving legal excellence. His words were a testament to the dedication and hard work of those selected.
