Event Report

On the splendid evening of September 28th, 2023, Italy’s legal elite gathered at the enchanting rooftop venue of the Westin Palace in the vibrant city of Milan for the unveiling of The Legal 500 GC Powerlist: Italy. Amidst the picturesque Milanese skyline, Giulio Tomassi, Business Development Manager, and the GC Powerlist Deputy Editor, Sara Maggi, hosts for the evening, welcomed and celebrated the remarkable achievements of the nation’s top in-house counsel.

The GC Powerlist publication and the launch reception itself exceeded our – already high – expectations, for the quality of the interviews we were able to do, the high calibre of the general counsel we spoke to during the research, and the huge turnout we had at the launch event.

The evening commenced with Sara Maggi, The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist Deputy Editor, delivering heartfelt opening remarks. She congratulated everyone in attendance, acknowledging the exceptional careers that had led them to this prestigious recognition and providing a glimpse of the research findings.

Following her, the spotlight turned to the event’s sponsor, Carlo Gagliardi, the Managing Partner of Deloitte Legal società tra avvocati. He addressed the challenges confronting in-house lawyers while also highlighting the opportunities presented by Italy’s resurgent business sector. His emphasis on the vital role of collaboration between external and in-house lawyers resonated with the audience.

Sara Citterio, the Group General Counsel of Trussardi, then graced the stage. She stressed the significance of being acknowledged in such publications, shedding light on the nuances of Italy’s in-house legal market. Her emphasis on the value of unity and knowledge-sharing among peers struck a chord with the audience.
