Amid the enchanting atmosphere of Mexico City’s vibrant St. Regis venue, on the evening of October 25th, 2023, Mexico’s preeminent in-house legal minds converged for the grand unveiling of The Legal 500 GC Powerlist: Mexico Rising Stars 2023.
The unveiling of The GC Powerlist publication and the subsequent reception surpassed even our high expectations. We were astounded by the depth and quality of the interviews we conducted, the exceptional caliber of legal minds we encountered during our research, and the remarkable turnout at the launch event.
The evening commenced with an address by Sara Maggi, Deputy Editor of The Legal 500’s GC Powerlist Series. She congratulated all in attendance and stressed the significance of recognising and honouring rising stars. Sara emphasised that a company’s success is the culmination of collective effort, making it only just to acknowledge the indispensable individuals behind that success.
Next, the spotlight turned to Erika Diaz Ulloa, the General Counsel Latam at L’Oréal. Erika imparted her words of wisdom to the emerging talents in attendance, emphasising the pivotal role of mentorship, continuous learning, and the often-overlooked soft skills such as leadership. She highlighted how these skills can serve as powerful tools for the career progression of the legal professionals in the audience.
BenjamÃn Torres-Barrón, Partner at Baker McKenzie Abogados and leader of Baker McKenzie’s Energy, Mining and Infrastructure (EMI), and Projects Practice Group in Latin America and Mexico, took the stage next. He underscored the significance of the partnership with The Legal 500 in making this event possible and the transformative power of recognition.
