Event Report
The Legal 500 was delighted to be back in Bogota to host the GC Summit Colombia on 28 July 2022.
The event brought together in-house counsel based in Bogota to exchange their points of view on sustainable finance, initiatives to combat white-collar crime, antitrust and unfair competition and ESG.
After Fred Mazo, global conference producer of The Legal 500, opened the Summit, Juliana Saa of Holland & Knight chaired the day’s first panel and presented an overview of sustainable finance in Colombia, regulatory and market trends. Juliana presented with the panellists some of the regulatory and market trends that are coming into play in Colombia.
Javier Coronado organised the next session from Diaz Reus. The conversation focused on US investigations against business crimes in Latin America and what companies need to know to combat and avoid this scourge. Specifically, the panellists shared their experiences in the fight against corruption, money laundering and human trafficking in Latin America.
The third session was presented by Enrique Alvarez from Lloreda Camacho, which had an exceptional guest, the superintendent of industry and commerce of Colombia, Mr Andres Barreto; the panellists shared their opinion on antitrust, unfair competition, opportunities and risks faced by companies operating in Colombia.
The summit ended with a fourth panel discussion moderated by Guillermo Tejeiro, from Brigard Urrutia, who together with the distinguished panelists gave their points of view on the challenges of assuming ESG initiatives in Colombia and how companies are addressing this issue that is of vital importance for the protection of the planet.
Thanks again to Holland & Knight, Diaz Reus, Lloreda Camacho, Brigard Urrutia and Aguilar Castillo Love for supporting the event, our panellists for sharing their insights, and the audience for engaging with us enthusiastically.
