Event Report
For the first time this year, the in-house Middle Eastern community had the opportunity to get together and hear from their peers and some of the region’s top law firms about the trends, challenges and opportunities that the in-house community is experiencing in the commercial and M&A sectors.
The second edition of the Middle East Corporate, Commercial and M&A Summit 2023 was an extraordinary event, very well attended and full of exclusive and valuable information for the in-house community in Dubai.
During the first morning session moderated by CMS, almost 200 attendees were able to learn first-hand about the investment opportunities presented by Israel and Turkey from the perspective of the UAE. The session, full of valuable information, gave a very positive horizon for the different sectors looking for new outbound opportunities to invest in countries with unique qualities for the corporate sector.
Next, the session moderated by Pinsent Masons presented the corporate and business trends that will create significant business opportunities today and in the future. There, the in-house counsel find their function as fundamental in constructing the scaffolding that makes their position a strategic instrument in developing and adopting new business strategies governed by further legal and regulatory frameworks within their respective sectors.
After a break in which attendees share notes on the first morning sessions, the production team presented the last block of sessions, which would bring discussions at the highest level on issues that are changing the operating course of corporations, with operations in Dubai and the Emirates.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) was a session full of great questions from the attendees who, with their questions, allowed the panellists to bring out their outstanding knowledge. Thanks to their answers, many of the in-house counsel expressed their satisfaction by understanding how FDI will contribute to developing infrastructure within the region and consolidating sustainable corporate and social development strategies.
The moderation of this panel was carried out by Galadari Advocates and Legal Consultants who, with their experience and knowledge in these fundamental issues, managed to give clarity and direction to an audience thirsty for answers and seeking to continue the consolidation of their companies and the sustainable development of the same.
The final session of the day, moderated by BonelliErede, on the changes in the region regarding tax was attended with great attention by the attendees, who bombarded the legal experts with concise questions. The legal experts shared their experiences in this area and their opinions on the future of the new federal corporate income tax that will come into force in a few months.
The event culminated with a lunch which enabled the attendees to continue their conversations about some of the most critical issues currently occurring in the region.
On behalf of The Legal 500 team, we want to thank our sponsors and all the delegates for participating and supporting this great event.Â
Next year the Middle East Commercial and M&A Summit will return to Dubai with more topics of interest to help the in-house community in their professional development at the hands of the most prestigious law firms in the international legal sector.
