Event Report

On Wednesday 6^th March, 2024, Legal 500 celebrated the launch of its Private Practice Powerlist for US M&A with a stimulating roundtable discussion on the use of tech and AI in M&A in association with Thomson Reuters and hosted by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. The ambitious hybrid event took place in New York, Palo Alto, and online at the same time. The event began with a congratulatory address by Melissa Yebisi, US Research Editor (GC Portfolio), followed by contributions from Freshfield partners Jenny Hochenberg in New York and John Fisher in Palo Alto, and Julie Strachan Haiber from Thomson Reuters. Legal 500 United States Editor Barnaby Merrill began the conversation from New York. A combination of private practice and in-house lawyers attended, including representatives from major national firms and multinational businesses, sharing breakfast and lunch across both locations, followed by an engaging debate on issues such as the global M&A environment, the future of legal work accompanied by AI, and internal concerns on the use of technology.
