Event Report
A diverse selection of Hong Kong’s senior in-house legal and compliance professionals joined The Legal 500 and Linklaters for a roundtable discussion on Crisis Management, at a time where social and political turbulence around the world is pushing the topic to the top of the agenda for many in-house teams.
Linklaters’ expert partners – Melvin Sng, head of dispute resolution for Asia and Andrew Chung, dispute resolution partner at Linklaters’ Hong Kong office, launched the event with some words around crisis management generally: where crises are likely to come from, the changing perception of crisis management at board-level and the key priorities that should be kept front-of-mind when crisis planning. But along with the insights from Linklaters, the value of the discussion came from the delegates in attendance, and the varied and unique perspectives they brought to the table. From hospitality to cloud computing, attendees came from a large range of sectors, which allowed for a lively discussion and the sharing of experiences with crisis management, from horror stories to lessons learned to best practices in preparing for and responding to crises of many kinds.
The diversity of attendees and the breadth of discussion is a testament to the increasing space that crisis management is occupying in the minds of businesses of all kinds. Nearly all attendees had direct experience with either handling crises directly or putting together a crisis management plan, when it seems not so long ago crisis planning was an afterthought if not ignored entirely. Now, not only were attendees able to hear from practised experts in the field, but offer their own experiences and strategies to their fellow in-house professionals in a closed-door, off-the-record environment.
Thank you to all attendees of The Legal 500 and Linklaters’ Hong Kong Crisis Management Roundtable, and to Linklaters for their partnership and expertise in planning and hosting this event.
