The Asia Pacific region and not least Southeast Asia continues to thrive despite the disruption caused by the COVID pandemic. Each country has its own strengths and challenges, however overall there is much global focus on this region in terms of investment in areas including power/renewable energies and other areas such as fintech, and it is also home to a number of well-regarded arbitration hubs. There is also growing development around environmental/climate change challenges and the other parts of ESG such as good governance.
The Southeast Asia legal community offers an impressive range of expertise with firms ranging from those with a full-service, global or regional reach to smaller, specialist firms providing a deep understanding in specific practice areas. This is all evidenced in the growth of the number of rankings produced this year.
The Legal 500 is therefore delighted to recognise the leading firms, lawyers/barristers and in-house counsels who have contributed to the regional and global markets. The awards are based on The Legal 500’s market-leading independent research and winners are selected based on that research which is carried out by a large team of researchers who have in-depth knowledge of their jurisdictions and practice areas. Together with Deputy Editor Yvonne Berman the team has evaluated the evidence to produce the winners.
