ESG: Building an Effective Governance Programme

Overview

Environmental and social issues have dominated agendas, whilst much less focus has been placed on corporate governance. In-house counsel around the world have consistently stressed the importance of implementing a robust governance plan to better protect the stakeholders’ interests, reduce reputational risks, and help companies to gain an advantageous position in the market.

In this webinar, we will consider how leading in-house counsel have approached corporate governance, whilst also discussing the key findings from our newly published report ESG: Building an Effective Governance Programme.  Specifically, we will address a broad range of pertinent issues for corporate counsel active in governance issues, including global trends in corporate governance, in-depth surveys on global governance frameworks, and provide practical advice for in-house counsel.

Speakers

Hannah Clipston, director of strategic growth for corporates and institutions, Irwin Mitchell

Having previously headed up Irwin Mitchell’s national Commercial Dispute Resolution team, in 2022 Hannah took on a new role as Director of Strategic Growth for Corporates and Institutions.

As part of her role, Hannah has been key to the introduction of the firm’s ESG strategy. She’s helped to embed changes internally and is now encouraging clients to follow suit, working together to build sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships so that they can exceed regulations and future proof their businesses.

Hannah believes that sustainability in business is about making a difference beyond short-term interests to build a better and fairer world for our people and planet with our finite level of resources.
