Speakers
Alessandro Bavila, partner, Maisto e Associati
Alessandro Bavila was admitted to the Bar in 2002. He obtained an LL.M. Degree in Tax from the University of London and worked afterwards at the IBFD of Amsterdam as IFA researcher before joining the Firm.
He has consolidated expertise in international taxation, personal and estate planning, trusts and taxation of individuals by and large.
He is visiting lecturer at the LL.M. program of the University of Amsterdam and is regularly invited as speaker at conferences and seminars on tax topics.
He is a member of TIAETL (International Academy of Estate and Trust Law) and PAIAM (Professional Advisors to the International Art Market), as well as an international fellow of ACTEC (American College of Trust and Estate Counsel). Since 2023, he is member of the board of the Italian branch of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) of which he was previously member of the Scientific Committee.
Ramona Azzopardi, partner, head of tax & private client, WH Partners
Ramona Azzopardi is recognised as one of the leading tax and private client lawyers in Malta. She regularly assists private clients with cross-border wealth structuring, succession planning, immigration and fiduciary services such as foundations and trusts. Ramona is recommended in The Legal 500 EMEA 2023 edition in the Private Client practice area in Malta, where WH Partners earned a Tier 1 ranking. She also earned the “highly regarded” recognition in the World Tax 2023.
Ramona is a regular speaker at international tax conferences. She is a Council Member at the Malta Institute of Taxation and a Chair of the Tax Technology Committee withing the Malta Institute of Taxation. Ramona also represents the institute at CFE, on the Tax Technology Committee. Ramona has recently been elected as Vice President to the board of Ally Law International Network of Law Firms.
