Position

Cian is a partner and Head of the Corporate and M&A Group. Cian specialises in mergers and acquisitions, advising on public and private transactions as well as corporate finance and equity capital markets transactions.

Career

Cian has experience advising on domestic and cross border transactions in a number of industries including the pharma/healthcare, financial services, energy and technology sectors as well as advising on corporate migrations, holding company structures, schemes of arrangement and cross border mergers. Cian has extensive experience in public M&A and has advised international clients and boards of directors on investing in Ireland and Irish based acquisitions including advising on some of the largest and most high profile public transactions in Irish corporate history. Prior to joining Arthur Cox Cian was a partner in another leading Irish law firm and spent a number of years based in London and New York.

Arthur Cox has a substantial mix of Irish-listed company clients, along with a multitude of Irish businesses that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ. It has continued to advise on a sizeable market share of headline and high-value domestic and cross-border M&A transactions. It is also at the forefront of private equity deals. Maura McLaughlin, managing partner Geoff Moore and head of corporate and M&A Cian McCourt  are top practitioners with Michael Coyle, Maeve Moran and David Vos impressing amongst the younger partners. Kylie Dollard and Sinead Crowley have been promoted to partner and of counsel respectively.

Arthur Cox has a broad-based DCM, structured finance and securitisation practice. It has a substantial presence in collateralised loan obligations (CLOs), residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) and medium term note (MTN) programmes. The firm also has a fine record in ECM transactions, including offerings on NYSE and NASDAQ, corporate restructurings and public M&A deals. It is also noted for redomiciliations and de-SPAC transactions using an Irish holding company. In DCM, Cormac Kissane  is hugely experienced, while Aiden Small  and Phil Cody are also prominent figures, with Aisling Kelly and new partner Peter Murphy making a further impression. In ECM, Maura McLaughlin and Cian McCourt continue to impress, along with David Vos and counsel Sinead Crowley. Glenn Butt has retired.
