Career

Hartmuth Sager studied law in Hamburg, Lausanne, Bonn and Berlin. He gained international experience whilst working for a law firm in Auckland, New Zealand and for the Foreign Office at the German Embassy in Washington D.C. In 1999 he became a partner of our firm. His main practice areas are shipbuilding contracts, problems arising from charterparties and ship-management contracts as well all aspects of marine insurance and casualties. Since many years, Mr. Sager has been working as a lecturer for the German Law Academy in the education program for specialized lawyers in maritime and transport law. In 2015 he was appointed judge of the Hamburg Lawyers’ Court and has held this honorary office since then.
