Career

He joined SK&S shortly after its formation in 1991 and became Partner and Senior Partner in 1993 and 1996 respectively. During his practice at SK&S he has provided legal services in many privatization and restructuring transactions in many sectors of Polish industry and banking, supervised various mergers and acquisition projects, participated in greenfield projects, and has drafted many transaction documents and authored many legal reports on civil and commercial law. He also took part in the work of the Commission in charge of reducing bureaucracy in the economy, set up by former Prime Minister Leszek Balcerowicz, and is an arbitrator of the Arbitration Court at the Polish Chamber of Commerce. He has authored many publications, including foreign-language publications, in the fields of civil and commercial law.

Of Counsel at Sołtysiński Kawecki & Szlęzak. An expert in civil and commercial law, corporate transactions and both Polish and international arbitration.

Education

He received a Master’s degree in English philology (1978) at the Faculty of Philology and a Master’s degree in law (1979) at Poznań University Law School, after which he pursued a court apprenticeship from 1979 to 1981 at the Poznań Voivodship Court. From 1979 he worked as an academic at the Civil Law Institute of Poznań University where he was awarded his doctorate and post-doctorate degree (habilitacja) in civil law in 1985 and in 1992 respectively. He also studied at several foreign academic institutions, including Oxford University and the University of Michigan. In 1994, he was awarded a professorship at Poznań University, which he held until his departure from the Law School in 1996. At present, he is a professor at Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities.
