Career

João is a managing associate in the corporate M&A practice. With 10 years’ experience, he has advised on Portuguese and international acquisitions and mergers of companies. João has also provided legal support in venture capital and private equity operations, acting for both investments companies and target companies, in particular start-ups. He has solid experience in dealing with the purchase and sale of assets, definition and implementation of restructuring and reorganisation of corporate groups, establishment and development of joint ventures, financial transactions, and structuring and setting up real estate investments.

Before joining PLMJ, João was a lawyer in the corporate and M&A practice of the law firm Cuatrecasas and an adviser to the board and head of the legal department of PortoLazer, the municipal company of the Porto Municipal Council.

João has  a master’s in corporate and business law from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto and completed a post-graduate course in Intellectual Property Law and a post-graduate course in Corporate Law  at the same faculty.
