Career

Carmen is a partner in the Real Estate and Tourism practice and she heads PLMJ’s Faro office.

With almost 20 years' experience, she acts for a range of clients from the tourism and real estate sectors, in particular, owners of tourism developments and hotels, in various legal matters relating to real estate, tourism, corporate, contracts and trademarks. Her advice includes assisting buyers and sellers in investment or divestment operations involving real estate assets.

Carmen also has a solid background in litigation and arbitration, in disputes involving corporate matters, unfair competition and contractual compliance. Her experience includes contracts relating to golf rights and construction contracts.

She is currently one of the directors on the board of the British-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce.

Carmen has a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, an LLM in international trade and business law from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Católica Portuguesa and she completed an extension course in arbitration at the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
