Position

Partner and Head of the firm's Energy department. Navestad assists clients primarily in the energy and maritime sectors. He has more than 20 years of experience as an adviser for companies in the oil and gas industry, both as in-house lawyer and external attorney. He assists oil companies and suppliers in connection with the negotiation and conclusion of commercial agreements, such as rig agreements, agreements for the sale and transport of oil and gas and JOA and unitisation agreements, and he advises on regulatory matters and assists clients in asset and corporate transactions.

Navestad is also active within dispute resolution, mainly in cases relating to oil and gas, offshore construction and shipbuilding. He represents companies in Norwegian and international arbitration cases, and in litigation before Norwegian courts.

Navestad advises a number of Norwegian and international clients, including oil companies, offshore shipowners, shipyards and building contractors, as well as aquaculture companies. He is known for his in-depth industrial understanding, good communication skills and ability to provide clear and practical advice on complex legal issues. With specialised expertise in the fields of petroleum law, contract law and offshore construction contracts, Navestad is a sought-after adviser on industrial projects which are carried out within a regulatory framework.

During his time at Arntzen de Besche, Navestad has also worked as in-house counsel in TOTAL E&P Norge, Aker Exploration and Lundin Norway.
