For the past 15 years, Nicolai Als has worked extensively with public law issues advising municipalities, regions and publicly-owned enterprises, etc., including in particular municipally-owned enterprises in the utility sector.

As part of Bech-Bruun's energy and energy supply team, Nicolai has extensive experience advising particularly municipal associations and municipally-owned utilities on supply law issues, municipal law issues, including issues relating to lawful municipal activities and governance law issues as well as issues relating to the corporate organisation of municipal activities. In addition, Nicolai advises municipalities on the rules of municipal law, including issues on lawful municipal activities under municipal law and the rules governing municipal government as well as governance law and administrative law issues, including access to documents and impartiality.

Nicolai is an expert on issues in the waste management sector, in particular waste incineration. Nicolai thus advises on issues such as utility regulation and privatisation of activities. In addition, Nicolai is an experienced adviser on carbon capture.

Nicolai has also lectured on various public law topics such as access to documents, municipal company participation and municipal associations - inter-municipal enterprises, as well as on governance law topics.
