Career

Rya is actively involved in Construction and Development Planning, Energy, and Environmental law. She also practices in General Commercial law and forms part of the firm’s EU, Regulatory and Litigation group.

Rya joined Camilleri Preziosi as a Trainee in 2010. She graduated as Doctor of Laws at the University of Malta in November 2008 after submitting her thesis on the “Role of the International Court of Justice”. In 2008, she embarked on an LL.M. in International Law at Georgetown University where she concentrated on areas in both Public and Private International law.

Since joining the firm, Rya has been involved in a number of energy related projects, including the procurement and construction of an HVAC submarine interconnector cable, the construction of a power generation plant and projects for the procurement of energy from renewable sources. In addition, she provides regular advice to local government entities and regulatory authorities on the implementation of the various EU Directives on energy.

In fact, she concentrated on these areas in her second LL.M. obtaining her degree in Energy, Environmental and Climate Change Law from the University of Leuven.

In the field of construction and development planning, Rya has been involved in a number of major local developments and has advised clients on their construction-related legal needs, from the drafting of tender and project documents to the resolution of disputes arising out of projects.

Rya was appointed Senior Associate in 2018.
