Position
Massimo advises Italian and international clients on civil and commercial litigation issues (both before ordinary courts and in arbitral proceedings) and contracting, especially focusing on communication and sport related assets. Massimo has gained significant experience in insolvency and arbitrary proceedings and is regularly appointed in ad hoc and administered arbitrations.
Career
Massimo Proto joined the Firm as of Counsel in 2020 and became a Partner in 2024. He is Full professor of Private Law at Link Campus University in Rome, where he holds courses in Introduction to private law and Civil Law, and he lectures in Master’s course in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution Strategies and in MBA Management and Sports Law, after having been an associate professor of Private Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Parma (2006-2015). Massimo also holds course of Family Law at Luiss Department of Law. He has also taught at Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (2019), at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (2018) and at Universidad de la Habana (2017). He is a member of steering and scientific committees in magazines and editorial series; is member of the Governing Council of Italian Association of Civil Law Scholars, member of The Italian society of civil law scholars, member of Italian Union of private law lawyers and member of Italian Forum for Arbitration. He authored textbooks and papers on private and sports law for Italian and internationals magazines.

Member of the Rome Bar (Italy) and admitted to practice before the Supreme Court, (Italy). Massimo is a member of The Banking and Financial Ombudsman (ABF)’s Rome Panel, designated by the Governor of the Bank of Italy.
