Career

David has extensive professional experience in the various fields of intellectual property, in particular patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights, plant breeders’ rights, distribution agreements and competition law, including litigation, transactions and general consulting on intellectual property issues.

His main fields of expertise: chemistry, pharmaceutics, physics, high technology, branding and competition law. David has extensive professional experience in patent and trademark litigation and enjoys a worldwide reputation for his outstanding accomplishments in these fields. He has been involved in land mark cases, such as the Supreme Court Bacardi case, which was the first case in Israel that recognized the concept of well-known marks.

David also teaches on patent law at the Tel Aviv University Law Faculty and occasionally lectures at Israeli academic institutions and other forums.

David has been awarded Lexology’s Client Choice award for 2020 as well as been recommended for several years in leading international guides: Chambers & Partners Global , Legal 500, Managing Intellectual Property (MIP IP Stars) , IAM Patent 1000, Expert Guides, Who's Who Legal , WIPR Leaders in IP  (Patents, TM), as well as your guide. Throughout the years, David has authored various chapters on Israel as well as contributed to the World Trademark Review on a regular basis ever since its start.

He is the author of "Experimental Use and Patents," IIC Studies (Vol 16 1995) and served as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Patent, Copyright and Competition Laws, 1992-3.  The chapter on Israel in "Inside the Minds: IP Client Strategies in the Middle East and Africa" A Thomson Reuters publication, May 2009. The chapter on Israel in past and present Trademark Cancellation International Practice and Procedures Guide of the International Trademark Association (INTA). The chapter on Israel in the "Brown Book" and also author of several articles on the subject of the new Copy Right Law in Israel which were published on the firm's Newsletters. The chapter on Israel  in "The Patent Litigation Global Guide" (Thomson Reuters) The chapter on Israel in “Antibody Patenting: A Practitioner's Guide to Drafting, Prosecution and Enforcement” (Wolters Kluwer).

David is also a co-author of the book "Intellectual property Law in Israel". The book derives from the chapter on Intellectual Property law in Israel in the Encyclopaedia of Laws (IEL) published by the internationally renowned "Kluwer Law International".

He Co-authored the chapter on Israel in the guide Designs 2019: A global guide (WTR).

David has authored the article Employing Gestalt Theory to Enforce Trademarks , INTA Bulletin Vol.73 No.21 (2018)
