Overview

Mark acts regularly for major businesses and employers in Gibraltar, including HM Government of Gibraltar and other public bodies, combining a commercial and civil dispute resolution practice, and specialising and recognised as a leading expert in employment, landlord and tenant, and property law. His unique commercial and dispute resolution background enables him to advise and address almost all issues that might affect any business in their day-to-day activities.

Mark regularly advises the transactional team on mergers and acquisitions involving as they do a wide range of businesses from gaming, e-commerce, banking and property sectors, from an employment and commercial property law perspective.

Mark is assisted by Senior Associate, Nick Isola, a solicitor and junior counsel.

Backround

In 1985 Mark was called to the Bar of England and Wales and the Gibraltar Bar. In 1996 he was made Partner at Messrs Triay & Triay before becoming a Partner at Messrs ISOLAS in 2009 and of ISOLAS LLP in 2017.

Mark was appointed Queen’s Counsel in February 2012.

Property Development

Mark is a leading lawyer in property and landlord and tenant work, and acts for several major developers, property management groups and management companies in Gibraltar with respect to their property and landlord and tenant disputes. His background in both commercial work and dispute resolution allows a greater insight and perspective, and the ability to address and resolve the more difficult and technical commercial issues arising in respect of property matters, including general building insurance issues and planning disputes, in an effective and pragmatic manner.

Employment Law

Mark is also a leading expert in the field of employment law in Gibraltar and has acted on behalf of most major employers, including HM Government of Gibraltar, the Ministry of Defence, both local and international companies as well as senior members of management of both gaming and crypto companies.

Mark is also a Chairperson of the Employment Tribunal of Gibraltar.

Commercial and Civil Litigation 

Mark acts for several major developers, property management groups and management companies and landlords with respect to their property and landlord and tenant disputes, and is a well-recognised expert in this field, including in relation to planning and landlord and tenant disputes and property insurance claims.

Mark enjoys his military history, Gibraltar’s rich military heritage, his Irish history and, of course, Irish rugby given his mixed heritage. He enjoys an active outdoor life involving, as it still does, his passion for football and rugby (to a significantly lesser degree now!)
