Joaquim Vieira Peres is one of the most active Portuguese lawyers in the area of competition law, both at the national and community level. His experience includes advising and representing clients in merger control procedures, as well as in the areas of anti-trust and state aid. His professional activity also includes the representation of private parties in proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Communities. He has experience in the areas of trade and distribution, electronic communications, real estate and construction, insurance, telecommunications and transports.

Qualified (1988). Partner (2006) and head of the european law and competition team, Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados. Founding Partner of Osório de Castro, Verde Pinho, Vieira Peres, Lobo Xavier & Associados - Sociedade de Advogados (1989-2005). Joaquim Vieira Peres recently resumed its collaboration with the Law Faculty of the Portuguese Catholic University in Oporto, teaching national competition law. He had been an Assistant Professor there, from 1986 to 2003.
